EU Trade Governance: Assessing Prometheus

On the 11th and 12th of January, the Collegio Carlo Alberto hosted the high-level policy dialogue “EU Trade Governance: Assessing Prometheus” organised by the University of Torino, the European University Institute, and the Collegio Carlo Alberto. The two-day meeting hosted four panels comprising renowned experts and policymakers debating various topics of importance in the realm of international trade.

After being welcomed by the dean of the Collegio Carlo Alberto, Paolo Ghirardato, the policy dialogue began with the keynote of the former EU Trade Commissioner Ms Cecilia Malmström. Professor Bernard Hoekman from the EUI acted as discussant.

While the first panel focused on “the EU and multilateralism”, the second panel concentrated on the EU and its bilateral, preferential, and plurilateral agreements The final panel dealt with the EU and the role of autonomous instruments.

The event concluded with a roundtable taking stock and looking into the future of trade.
